Frequently Asked Questions
Squash is a fast-paced racket sport played by two or four players within a four-walled court, using a small rubber ball and squash rackets.
Players alternate hitting the ball, aiming to make it difficult for their opponent to return. The objective is to win points by making the ball bounce twice before the opponent can return it or forcing them to fail to return the ball correctly.

Squash balls come in different sizes and different colours for a specific reason - they are designed to bounce differently and behave differently in certain conditions! Very Basically:
Mini Squash Red Ball
The Dunlop Mini Squash balls are perfect for getting your littles ones into the game.
The Red Ball is larger than the standard squash ball, and bounces higher so is ideal for helping them develop their basic skills.
The Orange Ball is developed for children who are looking to further develop key skills in the game of Squash.
Blue Dot
Ideal for those who are new to the game of squash, as it has a 40% longer ‘hang time’ than the Pro ball and is 12% larger.
Red Dot
Aimed at improvers and occasional or recreational players. It is ideal for players looking to develop their technique as it is livelier and doesn’t require the player to hit the ball as hard to retain bounce.
Single Yellow Dot
This ball is designed for club players or for use on very cool courts. It is the ball most players should be using in their games and Matches!
Double Yellow Dot
It is most suitable for professionals, tournament and good club players as it requires consistent hard-hitting play to maintain the correct temperature for optimal performance.

How long is a piece of string?
The frequency of squash coaching sessions depends on your personal goals and availability.
For social players, once a week might be sufficient, while more development/fitness focused players might benefit from multiple sessions per week. And if you enjoy it, why not play more times in a week!
For Juniors, if they can get on Court 2-3x per week they progress much quicker.
Discuss your goals with your coach to determine the best schedule for you.
For our Squash Coaching sessions, we can provide you with the equipment needed to play. You will need non-marking shoes, comfortable sportswear and a drink.
If you are playing more, you may consider getting your own equipment. This might include: a squash racket, squash balls suitable for your level, a Squash Bag, Squash Shoes and Squash Goggles (mandatory for players under the age of 19).
Your coach may also recommend additional equipment based on your specific needs and goals.
