The inaugural Girls Only Be Inspired Cup concluded last week after two fantastic days of squash competition, bringing together young players from across the Macclesfield area to celebrate sport, teamwork and confidence as part of Women's Squash Week!

Hosted at Macclesfield Leisure Centre and funded by Girls In Motion, a charity dedicated to increasing the opportunities for women and girls in Squash, the competition welcomed eight teams from four local primary schools: Prestbury Primary School, Dean Valley Primary School, Hurdsfield Primary School and Rainow Primary School!

The competition began on Thursday 18th September, with Round 1 providing many girls with their first experience of competitive squash. Throughout the day, players demonstrated tremendous enthusiasm, determination and sportsmanship as they represented their schools.

One of the unique features of the Be Inspired Cup is its inclusive format, ensuring that every team remains involved throughout the competition regardless of results. This allowed all participants to enjoy multiple matches and continue developing their skills across both competition days.

The Finals Day on Thursday 25th September produced some outstanding squash and several closely contested matches as teams battled it out of the title.

After a series of impressive performances, Prestbury Primary School's B Team were crowned Be Inspired Cup Champions, finishing on an impressive 239 points. Their consistency, teamwork and determination throughout both rounds proved the difference as they lifted the trophy.

Rainow Primary School enjoyed a fantastic tournament and secured the runners-up position with 200 points, showcasing excellent skill and resilience throughout the competition.

The Plate Competition also delivered plenty of excitement, with an all-Dean Valley affair in the final. In a closely fought contest, Dean Valley C edged out Dean Valley B by 248 points to 238 points to claim the Plate title!

While trophies and medals were awarded, the true success of the event was measured by the confidence, enjoyment and new experiences gained by the girls who took part. Across both competition days, players demonstrated outstanding effort, supported one another brilliantly and embraced the opportunity to try a sport that many had never experienced before.

The Inspire Squash Academy would like to thank all participating schools, staff, parents and supporters for helping make this year's competition such a success. Special thanks also go to Girls In Motion for their funding and support in creating more opportunities for girls to participate in squash.

Following such a successful first event, plans are already underway to continue growing the Be Inspired Cup and introduce even more young people to the sport in future competitions.
